1. Who is D Kreative?

See the 'Home' page to read more, but here is the short and sweet: my name is Katie and I am a full time Mechanical Engineer. My husband Dallas and I started D Kreative as a side business to let our creative sides flourish outside of our regular 9-to-5's. Through starting our business venture, I fell in love with photography. My goal is to provide you with beautiful photos that you will cherish for years to come at a comparatively lower cost. If you are looking for an easy to work with, affordable, and high delivering photographer that goes above and beyond for you on your wedding day, then you've come to the right place!

2. Why should I hire D Kreative?

To be honest with you, I am not like other photography businesses - I operate D Kreative with my husband Dallas outside of our regular 9-5 jobs. I absolutely love what I do as a photographer, which is getting the privilege of witnessing and capturing some of your most precious moments. I try my hardest to make sure you not only love your photos, but that I also exceed your expectations as more than just your photographer. I will be there to fix your veil or bustle, hold your bouquet, help fix wardrobe malfunctions, clean up spaces for the perfect shot, put your hair up for you, or hold your train/veil for you as necessary.

3. What is your photography style?

I would describe my photography style as beautifully blending prompted poses while also emphasizing authentic connection. I use a warm, natural, and storytelling approach that uses soft, golden tones and natural light to create a timeless and romantic feel. There is nothing I love more than capturing the beautiful and natural chemistry of couples and families. I believe that the most beautiful smiles come from genuine laughter, which is why I try to keep your session light hearted and keep you laughing! Whether I'm capturing a simple session or a wedding, my goal is to bring a warm, organic, and storytelling approach that results in photos that feel heartfelt and personal.

4. What does the turnaround time look like for a simple session? For a wedding package?

For a 30 minute or 60 minute session, the turnaround time is usually up to 4 weeks. It often times is much quicker than 4 weeks, it just depends on the work load at the time.

For a wedding package, the turnaround time is usually about 8-12 weeks. Again, often times it is much quicker and depends on the work load at the time. I will send you a sneak peak gallery within the first week after your wedding date and the remainder of the photos will be provided within 8-12 weeks.

5. How many photographers are included in wedding bookings?

All wedding bookings include only 1 photographer. I have the experience, skill, and organization to successfully document a wedding as a solo photographer. I carefully plan ahead and work with you and your timeline to ensure every important moment is captured.

6. Do you Photoshop or edit photos to remove imperfections?

During the editing process, I do take the liberty to remove small imperfections in the photos such as undesired objects in the background, flyaway hairs, clothing stains, etc. When I do take this liberty, I do my best to remove the imperfections such that the photo still looks just as natural as possible. There is no guarantee that all imperfections will be removed and I do not do any photoshopping to the photos outside of very minimal removal of small imperfections.

7. What is your safeguarding process for ensuring my photos is not lost due to corruption?

First and foremost, SD card corruption is very rare. I use a Sony Alpha 7 IV mirrorless camera that features two SD card slots and store captured photos on both SD cards at the same time. This method of storing media is a great way of instantly backing up your photos. Secondly, I have an external hard drive that I store all photos on in addition to both SD cards during the entire editing process. I promise that your photos are as safe as possible with me.

8. Do you provide raw photos from sessions or weddings?

No, I do not provide any raw photos from any session or wedding package. I capture so many raw photos that it is not reasonable to provide all of what is captured. The photos that are edited and provided from sessions and weddings are what I as the photographer deem to be the best of the best of what was captured. I reserve the right to make creative decisions on all photos that are edited and provided in the final selections.

9. Do you have a photography studio to do formal portraits or studio style sessions?

No, I do not have a photography studio unfortunately. The majority of sessions are done at public locations (i.e. the beach, parks, etc.), wedding venues, or personal property of the client. I am willing to shoot at any location the client wishes (travel fees may apply as necessary). Contact me to discuss your options for types of sessions.

10. I'm nervous to get my photos taken. What can I do to feel more comfortable in front of the camera?

It's normal to feel nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera! I recommend wearing something that is comfortable and that you feel your best in. I will do my best to work with you on posing with how you feel most comfortable to ensure that you end up with the best photos. If you have any special requests on particular poses, please let me know!
